FITBusters studio (F.I.T. - Focused Inspirational Trainers) are here to help and in the early days was described as ‘Meanwood’s best kept secret’. ‘Buster’ set up a one stop shop in Meanwood in November 2015 and now runs small groups with a maximum of 8 per class where all levels and abilities are welcome

Sky Fallers – Rock and Pop Workshop

Sky Fallers are an exciting, high energy rock, pop, folk and blues featuring talented learning disabled people. Formed in November 2014 are now experienced live performers - brilliant delivering pop classics either for the general entertainment, or to encourage audience participation workshops. Sky Fallers’ performance level will challenge some people’s perception of learning disability.

Sky Fallers core band is a six piece ensemble with four learning disabled adults and two staff members from Aspire Community Benefit Society musical facilitators and coordinators. Three lead singers are backed electric guitar, bass, acoustic drum kit, keyboards, flute & harmonica. revolving cast of guest performers also bring characterful party pieces show.

Sky Fallers’ workshop will feature a drum circle, specially constructed singalongs, Sky Fallers’ song request challenge and a bunch of comedy some of which will be intentional. Our band members work as music giving workshop participants chance to have a band accompanied experience high level. Members of the learning disability community have already taken Sky Fallers to their hearts and will be attending this event in numbers. Anyone who loves pop music, dancing and having a good laugh will enjoy this FREE event.

Sky Fallers opened on the main stage of the Leeds 2023 Bid launch 2017. Following the performance Leeds City Council Principal Officer Culture & Sport Jenny Gridley said “We absolutely loved Sky Fallers - they were such a hit with the audience!”

Woodland Community Walk and Sing with local singer and artist Kyla Dante

We will walk together up into the beautiful woods and then gather together to experience singing some easy to learn songs from around the world. All of the songs will have a link to nature and/or community. All welcome, no experience needed. Wear appropriate footwear for outdoor uneven surfaces.

Meet at the Rangers Hut in the Meanwood Park car park, Green Road from 6.45pm. Walk into the woods begins at 7pm . Free

Cocktail Takeover

Back by popular demand ; last year’s Cocktail Night went down a storm. A cocktail bartender will set up station in Alfred bar and serve an exciting range of different Cocktails for you to enjoy. There will be something for everyone’s tastes, pop in and give them a try !

Street Names of Leeds

This talk will be given by Mr David Thornton  of  The Thoresby Society.

The basis of the talk is the origins of various street names in and around Leeds,  and in some cases their  original or previous name.  This often gives us some history as to why a particular street name came about.
